Why do I see fewer demographic categories/segments in the report than the number of options in the survey?

The purpose of the demographic categories/segments is to provide an internal benchmark, or to compare the experiences or responses of your employee groups, and identify gaps that may suggest inequity. Our reporting templates have a maximum of 6 categories for any demographic question; if there were more answer categories than that, the comparisons become complex and the risk is that there are too few people in any one category/segment to draw valid comparisons. Pulsely’s algorithms analyze the similarity of responses among the segments of your employees; groups are combined only when data indicate a similar pattern of experiences. This approach simplifies your synthesis of information and allows you to identify the most significant gaps over the greatest number of employees.
