Getting Started with People Analytics
How to Put It in Place
Step 1: Select or Customize Demographic Questions
Choose from Pulsely’s list of default questions or create your own with guidance from our customer success team. You can cover identity, work experience, family structure, or anything relevant to your goals.
Step 2: Embed in Any Survey
Demographic questions are always attached to another Pulsely survey - like the Belonging Pulse or Inclusive Leadership Assessment - to preserve purpose and context.
Step 3: Launch & Collect Responses
Send your chosen survey with demographic questions included. Participation in demographic questions is always optional, helping you maintain high trust and response rates.
Step 4: Explore the Dashboard
As responses come in, view demographic breakdowns alongside your inclusion metrics—or use demographic data on its own to support your reporting and strategy.
Frequently asked questions about people analytics
Can we send just demographic questions on their own?
No. Pulsely always embeds demographic questions within a broader survey to provide context and avoid making identity feel like the only focus.
Are all demographic questions optional?
Yes. No demographic question can be made mandatory. This ensures higher response rates and respects employee boundaries.
Can admins see individual responses?
No. All responses are anonymous. Data is only shown for groups of 5 or more to protect individual confidentiality.
Can we customize the demographic questions?
Absolutely. You can edit or add questions based on your local context or focus areas. Our team is available to help you phrase them effectively.
How can this support ESG and CSRD compliance?
You can use aggregated demographic data for ESG and CSRD workforce reporting. Pulsely’s dashboards make it easy to extract the insights you need for compliance or public disclosures.
What types of demographics can we include?
You can include anything from gender identity and ethnicity to caregiving responsibilities, disability status, or work arrangement (remote/on-site). The list is flexible and entirely under your control.
Can this help us with recruitment?
Yes. If your data shows a lack of representation in certain areas, you can redesign your recruitment strategy to reach broader and more diverse talent pools.
The Pulsely platform has been extremely helpful in understanding our team and their needs in a responsible way that protects their confidentiality and ensures data we can rely on to design interventions.
