What is your Approach to Inclusion?

As our workplaces pull talent from a global workforce, the more we will engage with people who see and experience the world differently from ourselves. The four approaches to inclusion that we commonly see in the workplace are:

Traditionalist

The Traditionalist believes the workplace is a meritocracy where everyone has an equal chance to advance and obtain rewards based on their individual merits and efforts.

Observer

The Observer notices that some individuals are not advancing and in ways that cannot be explained by merit alone.

Connector

The Connector believes that, despite everyone’s best intent, there may be patterns of opportunity and advancement that don’t appear fair.

Advocate

The Advocate is motivated to change the system to ensure equitable outcomes.
